Capital Core Dance Studio Winter Recital Information
Our winter recital, Holiday Remix: A Modern Celebration, brings a fresh, inclusive twist to the holiday season. This performance will showcase the talent, creativity, and joy of our dancers through a modern, diverse celebration of the holidays. Below is everything families need to know to prepare.
Who Can Participate?
All dancers enrolled in our classes—from Tiny through Advanced—are eligible to participate in the recital. This includes students in our preschool and homeschool programs. All dancers enrolled in our evening classes will be automatically enrolled in the recital and we are committed to creating a supportive and exciting performance experience for every dancer. We will offer Recital information throughout the fall to help dancers and families stay informed and performance-ready.
Recital Fee and Costumes
The recital fee is $100 per participating dancer. This fee includes:
Recital costumes
Venue rental
Administrative and production costs
If a specialty costume is required for a specific routine, families will be notified in advance of any additional charges.
Ticketing Information
Tickets for the recital are not included in the recital fee. Families will be able to purchase tickets starting November 1st directly through our website.
We will offer a discount on tickets to families who volunteer during the recital. Volunteer sign-ups and information will be made available in early November.
Solo Opportunities
Solo auditions are available for dancers in our Novice, Intermediate, Advanced, and Adult classes. Dancers may audition with a routine no longer than two minutes. All show solo music must align with the recital theme and cannot duplicate music used in group routines or by other soloist.
There is no fee to audition, but selected soloists will be required to:
Pay a $25 soloist fee
Private lessons at $45 per hour to prepare their piece
Provide or purchase their own costume (costumes may be selected from our in-house catalog and paid for separately)
Each soloist will be paired with a staff instructor to guide their choreography and preparation.
Small Groups
If there are dancers who wish to be a part of a small group (2-4 dancers), they are welcome to work together or share a private lesson at $65 per hour with one of our instructors. Dancers do not have to audition to be in a small group but you must pay the soloist fee (one fee per dancer), dancers who are in a small group AND want to do a solo are welcome and will only pay the fee once. Dancers are only allowed one solo and one small group in addition to their class groups.
ALL GROUPS AND SOLOs MUST BE APPROVED BY THE SHOW DIRECTOR
Opening and Finale Routines
We will feature both an Opening and Finale routine in this year’s performance.
The Finale is open to all recital participants regardless of age or level. There is no additional fee to participate.
The Opening is available to dancers aged six and older. While this routine may include more advanced choreography, dancers of all levels are welcome to join. Exceptions may be made for younger dancers based on experience and interest. There is a $35 costume fee for this routine.
Rehearsals for both the Opening and Finale will be scheduled outside of regular class times and begin during our second session (October 18th). Dates and times will be announced in advance.
Recital Theme and Music
This year’s theme, Holiday Remix: A Modern Celebration, focuses on bringing an energetic, non-traditional approach to the holiday recital. While it will not follow the traditional Nutcracker storyline, it will feature a vibrant mix of styles and music selections inspired by winter holidays from around the world.
Performances may include music connected to:
Christmas
Hanukkah
Kwanzaa
Diwali
Winter Solstice
New Year’s celebrations
Music featured in holiday themed movies, etc.
We are committed to creating an inclusive and joyful experience that highlights the diversity of our community and encourages dancers to express themselves through their movement and creativity.
